Very pleased to announce that my drawing...

Absentia

...is shortlisted for exhibition at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh, opening in November 2026 until April 2027.

It is an honour to have my work chosen and to be part of an exhibition filled with talented and renowned artists.

It was good to be part of the Meffan Winter Show opening. I was in good company amongst so many distinguished artists and makers.

The exhibition showcases artists and makers from across Scotland, highlighting the wealth of talent in the region. The amazing works blew me away.

The exhibition is on display from 25th October until 12th January 2026. Well worth a visit.

All works are for sale, a perfect place to find a treasure from Scotland.

I couldn’t decide on a picture, so here are a few from the wonderful experience of being shortlisted, exhibited, and having the work "Pear I" sold at the Royal Academy—not to mention all the kind and generous people I met there.
The varnishing day started with a gathering of artists in front of the RA with a steel band, and then a clergy procession to St James Church, the artists' church. There was a service, and then there was a reception and the private view of the exhibition. I had a lovely time. Now I am sitting in the cafe of the portrait gallery, eating the most delicious cake!

This month has been a whirlwind of excitement. Not only was my drawing 'Imelda' selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023, but I was also invited to send a proposal to be included for a chance at the Evelyn Williams Drawing Award 2023. 

The Private View and Awards evening held at the Trinity Buoy Wharf Chain Store in London, was fabulous from the start with most invited artists and their guests arriving by boat from Westminster with lots of fizz and other drinks to go round on arrival and seeing all the artists and their drawings culminating in the excitement of the prize/awards announcement. 

Congratulations to all the prize/award winners.

Needless to say, I was not chosen for any of the prizes this evening, but it was great to be included in the mix with such a prestigious group of artists...and the catalogue is pretty special and a good reminder of all the stunning drawings included in the exhibition. 

Note to self: need to continue to draw and try again.

In this instance, a shoutout to Graham at Castlegate frames in Aberdeen who is always there to support local artists. in my case he offered his space at Castlegate frames and hosted a solo show of some of my recent mix of paintings.
